Helmut came to Raiatea about nine years ago, I don't remember the whole story of how he got there.  I do remember that he sailed there.  Anyway, he bought a 30' fiberglass sailboat that had been wrecked on the reef.  He proceeded to rebuild it, successfully.   It is now moored off the Carenage and he has no desire to leave.  The catamaran is his toy boat.  By the way he speaks several languages, including Tahitian, with excellent ease.  He is also an excellent person to know if you have an electrical problem.  He not only found Mouse Pad's problem, but took the time to explain how he came to the conclusion in layman's terms.  He has quite a sense of humor and is sharp with the wit, in any language!

1.  Phill concentrating on getting through the reef on the way to town, Uturoa, from the Carenage.  The channel at one point is only about 50' wide and 20' deep.   Outside the channel it is only inches deep.  No room for errors!
