Non-Skid Deck Paint
After a lot of research and thought and just plain tired of the lack of grip on the Non-Skip sections of the deck I have started to repaint them all. I chose a new product form Interlux a non-skid paint with a fine sand already added. Of course as with any job on a boat one thing led to another. That meant that the waterways needed to be painted too. For that we used a nice white paint to compliment the grey of the new non-skid. The work started to mount up and I soon realized that it was getting much beyond my experience, or lack there of! I hired a local boat painter to do the job for me. He (Erick) has turned out to be a huge asset to me in many ways and for many jobs since that time.
I chose this paint as it still allows the original non-skid pattern (the burlap imprint from the factory mould) to show through but has a very fine sand in it. I like the look and the grip is incredible!
The first photo is of the Bow section, the second is of the forward hatch, the third is taken a beam (port), it also shows the deck-organizer for all the lines from the port side coming from the mast back to the cockpit. There are now 10 lines per side coming from the mast back to the cockpit. This allows me to perform almost any line adjustment from the safety and comfort of the cockpit.
The last photo shows the stern/port lazerette hatch in the cockpit.
