This was another one of those wonderful relaxing days where we went on a trip
around the bay. Which included a stop for a few hours at an outer island
at a quiet bay. A chance for Anne to collect MORE shells and coral!
We were also lucky enuogh to not have any other guests, so when we couldn't get
into the small vilage to visit it as teh tide was out and teh boat couldn't
navigate the reef to get close enough, so Ratu agreed to take us to one of those
tiny little islands that when the tide is in can't be more than a 1/2 acre and 4
palm trees on total. We spent an hour or so there exploring the sand and
shells as there isnt much more there! |

This was one of the real high-lights of Pacific Harbor to me. I am so in
love with the culture of the South Pacific and of course the Fijian culture.
I have to say that I was a little disapointed at teh condition of the facility,
it was a little run down and I hope they get teh funding and guests to
re-vitilize the village as it rfeally is a wonderful place and shows all the
beast parts of Fijian life as it was and it should NOT be lost!
If I have my way when I move to Savusavu I will do my best to build a smaller
version of this village there for all the tourests who visist Savusavu on the
cruise ships and see what Fijian life is really like not the big cities and
night life they flock to! |
